Campaigns intern
UNITE HERE Local 25 is searching for a paid intern to support our unprecedented ongoing external organizing efforts. The restaurant industry is infamous for toxic work cultures, low pay, and high turnover. Hundreds of restaurant workers across DC see that it doesn’t need to be this way - and are organizing for stability, respect, and dignity in their workplaces.
Candidates who are conversationally fluent in Spanish are strongly preferred
As a Campaigns Intern, your role will include:
Picketing, bullhorning, leafleting and otherwise creating a physical presence for the union
Helping draft campaign materials or graphics
Assisting in outreach to the legislative branch and City Council
Assisting in translation and transcription
Assisting in worker interviews and statements
Managing physical and digital documents
Helping organize larger rallies and campaign events
Research that could include power mapping companies
Candidates for this position must be:
Physically able to picket, bullhorn, and leaflet for up to 4 hrs/day – often in the evenings and on weekends
Flexibility with scheduling and work hours, willingness to frequently work over 40 hours a week
Proficient in Canva and Microsoft Suite
Exceptional at working with a team to complete tasks in a timely manner
Motivated to further the goals of economic and racial justice in the DMV and in the restaurant/hospitality industry
Comfort speaking to diverse groups of people
Willingness to meet with political figures on all sides of the political spectrum
